Hillary Clinton vs. Sarah Palin 2012: Can You Imagine Who Would Win That One?

OK, picture this: unexpectedly Hillary Clinton runs in the next Democratic presidential primary and wins. Sarah Palin wins in the GOP primaries too, holding off a bevy of Republican men. In 2012, there is a presidential race between these two women. Do we have any doubt who would win that race? Hillary Clinton, and it wouldn't be close. Tell that to Rebecca Traister, Anna Holmes and the New York Times.

Traister and Holmes wrote an oped for the New York Times on Sunday that got a lot of attention and provoked some major consternation. In the piece, they seem to be claiming that Sarah Palin is a new kind of superwoman, transcending anything Democrat women have to offer; that Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton have failed in the face of this powerful "mama grizzly," and that this failure (which the authors, in my opinion, have totally concocted) is to be blamed on "the left" (whoever they/we are).

If you ran a chihuahua b*tch against Palin the b*tch would win.

It's also less grating to listen to.

Palin is famous for the same reason Snooki is famous. She's a train wreck that people love to watch. If this gives her better political credentials than Hillary Clinton the GOP might as well run Lady Gaga or Madonna on the ticket.

Don't underestimate the degree of pathological misogynistic hatred that a lot of male voters feel for Hillary Clinton. Palin is obviously ignorant, but therefore also non-threatening. And she can still get away with presenting herself as a sex object. Never underestimate the capacity of the American voter for doing stupid things, especially when about 50% of the electorate may be thinking with some part of the anatomy other than the brain.

Wow, had enough blatant misandry for the day?

The majority, at least according to polls, does not think that Sarah Palin would be an effective President.

And if we men didn't vote for her as VP the first time, what makes you think she even has a shot the second time? If Obama got replaced in favor of Hillary (which I doubt he will), then I would happily vote for another Clinton in the White House.

"Hillary Clinton vs. Sarah Palin 2012: Can You Imagine Who Would Win That One?"

What an attention-grabbing headline!

Before coming to the article I was thinking - what does she mean by '...that one"? Foot race? Road race? WWF Smackdown? Celebrity boxing? Debate? Election? I considered not even reading the article - and just letting my imagination run free.

One can only hope.

It's really unbelievable. Palin, Bachmann ang Angle can not appear or answer questions outside their party supporters. For me, that does not give them much of a chance at National Politics. But I like you hope we get to see and hear them try!

As much as I love HRC and the thought of her being in charge, she is just to much of a divisive person. Same with Mrs. Palin.

I think whatever 3rd Party Candidate that fell off the turnip truck in November would win.

Zoopolis, yes, of course the bitch will win in your race between the Chihuahua and Palin. But which bitch?

Redshadow: It would be 41% Clinton, 5% Palin, and 53% (rounding factors, you know) write-ins and third party candidates like Nadar and Paul (Ron, not Rand.) There may be a whole bunch of voters who could not bring themselves to vote for HRC, but there is only a handful that would ever actually consider voting for SP. Her "success" is not as a politician, but as a personality. Bet she goes on DWTS next season!!! (Although, I'd love to see her on Survivor. Can you imagine the tribal councils?)

Palin took a higher-paying job which doesn't require disclosure to her constituency. She gets to wear designer clothing and is above censure for doing so. She gets to be a diva and fly first class in jets (name another soccer mom who can?) and earn $75k for speaking gibberish. She is in every newspaper, in blogs, and in e-mail forwards. That's called living in infamy. For her, it's a step up.

For us, it's careening out of control.

Biden and Obama quit jobs they were elected to before the term they asked for was finished. Both for higher paying jobs. And what could be more self aggrandizing than being president or VP? They both spend in a year more taxpayer money money than what Palin will make in a lifetime. Palin was making $75,000 a year and was offered a chance to make $20m. Only an idiot would turn that down. And Palin was replaced by an ideological clone, so no lose to her voters. Obama was replaced by a corrupt idiot.

madvargr Of course I see the difference. They are dems, she is rep. You could easily say Palin quit to make money to run for president in 12, to save the country form Obama.

If she quit and was replaced by Roland Burris, there would be reason to complain. Had Palin stayed in office and wrote her book she would have been accused of neglecting Alaska to make money. It is pure partisan politics, nothing more. Of course republicans do the same.

Palin was making $75,000 a year and was offered a chance to make $20m. Only an idiot would turn that down.

A governor concerned about her constituents would have finished her term, rather than costing the state money to replace her. Palin is selfish and does not care about the people she represented.

Obama and Biden spend many millions every year on travel, security, living in huge mansions, staff, and other perks.

It cost Alaska maybe a hundred dollars to do the paperwork for change. And her replacement was an ideological clone so no change in policy.

You are one of my two favorite liberals but this is a non issue. Alaska did not suffer. She got a better offer and took it. So what. ? I guarantee she will serve her two full presidential when elected in 2012.

and I guarantee she couldn't get elected... not in 2012 at least... it would take an aweful candidate for the dems to get her elected... and even now Obama is FAR too popular for that to happen. The cost to Alaska of Palin resigning.

The preliminary figures obtained by The Associated Press through a public records request show it cost the state almost $14,100 for the swearing-in ceremony of new Gov. Sean Parnell in Fairbanks on July 26 after Palin formally stepped down the same day before a massive crowd in the interior city. The price tag for moving Palin -- the former GOP vice presidential candidate -- and her family from the governor's mansion in Juneau amounted to more than $3,328. Travel costs for the governor's office associated with the transition totaled more than $6,700.

Not included in the tally is the estimated cost of more than $100,000 for a one-day special session held last month in which state lawmakers confirmed Palin's surprise pick to replace Parnell as lieutenant governor and overrode her May 21 veto of $28.6 million in federal stimulus funds intended for energy efficiency projects.

Other transition costs disclosed to the AP are $4,626 in assorted expenditures by the governor's office such as official photos of the new governor and lieutenant governor, letterhead and business cards. The state Department of Labor estimates expenditures of $9,082 for new letterhead, brochures and forms while the Department of Administration projects spending more than $1,600 on new letterhead.

A bit more than $100. And wasteful for a state in financial troubles. But anything for Palin's ego!

But I am not petty enough to attack her for doing something 99,999% of Americans would jump at the chance to do, make $20 million dollars in one year. I also criticize Obama but for important things. I would never stoop to calling him a Muslim.

That was optional, All the stat was required to do was have a judge swear her in -free- and change a few signs and stationary. They chose to spend more.

Again, this is a non issue. Illinois and the US spent much more to replace Obama in the senate. If politicians choose tr\o spend much more than required for an ego, blame them.

Palin will one day fall and when she does it will be hard and ugly. It happens to the majority of people who's "star" burns too bright.

People love to build people up just to knock them down.

It is too bad she is too afraid to enter any real debate, face criticism, or defend her positions. Hiding like a teenager behind Twitter is so pathetic.

With Palin as both kingmaker and media-savvy talk show phenomenon now making oodles of cash, at this point the stars do not point towards her as a serious nominee. But to slough off the threat, blithely say that "Palin would be eaten alive", is to forget how distorted American politics has become of late.

A drubbing in a debate (and you know her side would agree to as few as rationally possible), would indeed be characterized as a left-wing media conspiracy, with unfair and slanted questions by the panel. Her supporters would have myopia; get Mama Bear elected and to hell with everyone else.

I feel she is a real and present threat; we need to be worried.

Nah, "her people" are the kind to get easily offended and kick you to the curb when you are not "pure" enough. Eventually she will say something that pisses them off enough to go after her. They do love to eat their own. LOL

She poses no threat because there are not enough people that would vote for her even if she did manage to keep her "stardom".

If she ran she would have to come out of hiding and the second she did she'd fall flat on her face.

demmy - If she would go into debates and act as she has so far, I don't believe all of her fans would stay on. Some would do as you say, but I give the majority more credit than that; I think they would gradually realize that she's empty, and gradually melt away by quietly moving on to someone or something else.

Yes, if she truly says something asinine some of her supporters would go, but as long as her handlers have her as the victim in this war of words between an over-thinking, ivory tower liberal and an attractive and down-home, two year college girl- I believe they will happily stay on and even grow. It also doesn't help that the (liberal, wildly left) press is absolutely fascinated with her at the moment. They are enthralled that whomever she blesses gets elected. I saw some video this morning where the press was looking upon her as some divine creature- it's sickening.

But remember her "debate" with Biden. She flat out stated that she wasn't goinging to answer any questions she didn't want to and pretty much just used it as a platform to recite talking points.

I don't think Sarah Palin would even agree to an actual "debate" with Hillary Clinton. It would be another fake debate where she can basically spout off uncontested. Remember that here fans *still* think she "won" the debate she had with Joe Biden.

I agree with Eris that Palin will fall. I believe her demise will be at the hands of the Republican men who want the nomination. She will never have to face a Democrat in a presidential debate because the men will send the little woman back to the kitchen where she belongs.

Clinton is a moderate. Problem is, many are so far to the right that they cannot see this.

When will you take Palin, Beck, etc. to task for their "partisan politics?" I see them playing partisan games more than I see Clinton doing so, but then, Clinton has a real, serious job to do, unlike the GOP jokesters.

Freedom Writer has just shown us exactly how the Republicans would conduct the 2012 campaign: by describing the opposing candidate as something she or he obviously is not, facts be damned, and then repeating the Big Lie until people get so used to hearing it that they start to mistake it for the truth. They've used it against Obama, and also against Hillary, as you may recall from the '08 primaries. They'll use it again.

Maximilio, I'll tell you what her extremist positions are: she's a Democrat who thinks that a Democrat can be President, and she's a woman who dares to think she's as smart and capable as a man. Oh, the horror.

People fell for Obama's hope and change rather than the well-spoken expert debate of Hillary. Lots of style there, now they are paying for the substance.

I think 2010 and 2012 will be more about substance over style. Style is too costly.

Hilliray Clinton is well known, she was the first lady for 8 years, been Senator of New York, and now is the Secretary of State, under Barack Obama. Sarah Palin is a quitter, she couldn't remain as Governor until the end of her term.

I have never heard of Hillary Clinton being under investigation for any reason, Sarah Palin has been under investigation, for one reason or another.

Having them as the choices in 2012, I would pick Hillary Clinton, for her experience over Sarah Palin inexperience. Why elect a quitter? Hillary Clinton has left a paper trail in what she has done as First Lady, as a Senator, and now as the Secretary of State. What paper trail has Sarah Palin left, so others can judge her on what she has accomplished as a short term governor.

"I have never heard of Hillary Clinton being under investigation for any reason"

may I suggest a little research?

On January 26, 1996, Hillary Clinton was forced to testify before a grand jury concerning her investments in Whitewater. This was the first time in American history that a First Lady had been subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury. She testified that they never borrowed any money from the bank, and denied having caused anyone to borrow money on their behalf. Over the course of the investigation, fifteen individuals — including Clinton friends Jim and Susan McDougal, White House counsel Webster Hubbell and Arkansas Governor Jim Guy Tucker — were convicted of federal charges. Except for Jim McDougal, none of them agreed to cooperate with the Whitewater investigators, and Clinton pardoned four of them in the final hours of his presidency (see list of people pardoned by Bill Clinton).

But if I had to absolutely choose between Clinton or Palin..I would vote for Clinton.

I guess it would take a sledge hammer to pound in the point that Palin quit as governor because of all those investigations. They were all bogus, and most were submitted by one person. She and her staff were having to spend so much time defending against all the garbage, she could not adequately do her job. It was costing the state of Alaska and the Palins a lot of money to defend against a bunch of ignorant knot heads just out to get her. It made perfect sense for her to resign so the state could stop spending money and resources, as well as all the money she spent.

Some people either just can not grasp the notion that it was the ethical thing to do, or they simply choose to use it as a talking point, thinking no one out there knows them be ignorant of the facts, or lying for political reasons.

A Hillary vs Sarah contest would be very, very close. Sarah deserves to win if for no other reason than the current Secretary of State actually referred the State of Arizona to the UN human rights commission for investigation.

On the downside, Sarah certainly does not have the polished education of a Hillary or an Obama. On the upside, Sarah has the same IQ as Obama and she has the immense benefit of never having attended wine and cheese left wing parties with Marxist professors and former terrorists turned professor.

How about attending beer and bear-burger right-wing parties and palling around with separatists? Does that count?

Proof that Palin has the same IQ as Obama?

I think Palin's shoe size is bigger than her IQ.

And Clinton did the correct thing in referring AZ to the UN Human Rights Commission. That's what happens when you go against human rights.

The AZ law has not violated any human rights, only a portion of it passed the court. It's important to have your facts strait.

If it makes you liberals feel better, Sarah Palin will never run for public office again. Ya'll are obsessed with the woman. Move on, you've got control of both houses for a little while longer.

Hillary Clinton vs. Sarah Palin 2012: Can You Imagine Who Would Win That One?

                          Win? Did you say win?

IF this were to happen (and it won't) Hillary would take Sarah's lunch and rub it in her face! Palin will never run for president if she's smart and again that too is a big IF!.

First, Palin would be mauled by the likes of Spewt Gingrich and Mitt Romney who would rip her eyeballs out on issues after issue - from from sea to shining sea in debate after debate!

She couldn't possibly manage to run a nationwide campaign AND stay on point - she's just NOT that smart.

However, IF she were actually in a debate with Hillary I would expect that at some point Palin would get so frustrated with Hillary rolling her eyes that Palin would run across the stage and grab Hillary by the hair and that Jim Lehrer dude from The Newshour would be screaming "Miss Palin your time is up. Governor Palin please - the red light is blinking, please limit your comments to 3 minutes and please stop yanking on The Secretary of States hair....security!"...

I would gladly welcome either Clinton back into the white house. Hillary has more brains in her thumb than Palin. Palin is pretty and spiffy, but not presidential material. Hillary has experience, brains and Bill (he at least balanced our budget). I don't care who he takes to bed, that is his and her business.) Bill is a great president and Hillary would be great also.

Hillary ANY day! Palin tweets because it's a safe way to "spout off" without ever having to answer to anyone who disagrees with her. I haven't always been a Hillary fan...but compared to Sarah Palin she's a genius.

Since the Democrats want to be Sharia Compliant...the Democrat men could not vote for a woman and each woman's vote would count for 1/2...therefore since Hillary could not get the the nomination over a community organizer. How does Hillary expect to compate with such a popular figure as Sarah Palin...say if she were running for office...on the other hand Hillary Clinton is probably going the way of Howard Dean...always remembered for " It takes a village" and that is about it

Your Party is the one that wants to be Sharia compliant...but you cant believe that this could come to fruition, that the Democrat would let a women who has been a First Lady and Senator get the Presidential nomination over a ....err...lets say ...a "community organizer"...the assumption that there would be a Palin v Clinton matchup would be based on that Obama would not be re-elected or re-nominated for President...which then would imply that even Democrats do not like the way this administration is running this country...if the country is soured on Obama...then they will be soured on Democrats...and Hillary's election would suffer.....best case scenario is the Bill Clinton version....screw up bad enough to lose control of House and Senate and when the country starts succeeding again because of republicans.....claim victory and get 4 more years

and Yes I know about Benazir Bhutto

Exactly two-thirds of independents say Palin's not qualified, along with an overhwelming 91% of Democrats.

Can we throw Alveeda King into the mix too...then they can all just mud wrestle for the right to win a nomination!

And then we can shove Michelle Bachmann and Laura Ingraham into the pit as well..I'd pay to see that!

But seriously, I highly doubt Palin will run...she would be eaten alive by the likes of Gingrich & Romney before Hillary ever got a shot at her - her grasp of the issues is limited to Tweeting and refudiating!

I think any potential presidential election between the intelligent Hillary Clinton and the brainless, worthless, fascist, half-governor Sarah Palin would occur in 2016, not 2012 because Obama will be reelected. Don't forget that Clinton would have won if Obama did not run for office. It was a close choice though. The first Female president or the first African-American president. I would hope that Clinton completely destroys Palin in a debate. Our president must include the most intelligent people that will work for the best interest of the people.

Obama is a good president. I would not know what to do with appointing people to cabinet positions if I was president. I don't think you will find very many people that work for the interest of the people anymore.

                                        Links? Proof?

The truth that the GOP doesn't want to face is that Obama's ratings are higher than Reagan's or Clinton's at this point in their first terms and they were handily re-elected.

Obama will not be impeached. He has done nothing wrong except upset the vast racist movement in this nation. Many people that say Obama is the worst president because they are upset that G.W. Bush was the worst.

But I was only speaking of what the poll showed and what the People felt. Actually Bush had the lowest rating of any Preisdent in 70 years.
