I was thinking about this today as I was tolerating my 14 year old step niece clicking from music channel to music channel. She knew the word to all the songs and was really enjoying herself. I however knew the words to barely a handful and only then if they had also be in an advert!
What was I listening to when I was her age? The thing is that I can still sing along to all the songs from the charts in 1984. Sad but true. As a Brit play me anyway Wham! or Duran Duran track and I will be word perfect. I am sure that my parents rolled their eyes at me as I rolled mine at my step niece. Tut tut what rubbish the youth of today listen to….LOL!!!!
What was the sound track of your youth?
For me it has to be Michael Jackson Thriller. I carried that album with me everywhere, afraid it might disappear if I left it alone for a minute. Wish I could say I conquered the moves but with two nerdy left feet that was never going to be a reality. But that album belongs to my generation more than any other. It captured our imagination in a way that any other artist failed to do at that time. At least that is the memory I carry with me and it is a good memory.
