Two teenage girls were forced to drop out of their high school in Gainesville, Florida, when they began getting death threats after they posted a 15-minute racist rant about 'black people.'
In the disturbing video, the girls cheerily complain about the African-American students in their classes and drag out a litany traditional racist stereotypes. They broadly characterize 'them' as 'stupid' and 'ignorant' people who survive on welfare.
'There's black people, they're fine. They're educated they go to school they do what they have to do. Then there's n******s who can't talk right, they keep having kids, they can't get jobs,' the first girl says.

In the clip, the two girls, both white, respond to critics who shower them with death threats and racial epithets for previous things they posted online about their black classmates.
Throughout the video, the teens claim they aren't racist. One of the girls explains: 'It's not even black people themselves. It's ...'
'... The N******s!' they both shout in unison, giggling.
Another frequent theme the girls harp on is the way their black classmates speak.
What were they thinking? What is really disheartening is that this is the next generation. *sigh*
- 5 votes
I saw that vid and winced all the way through. I was thinking to myself those girls didn't know how lucky they were I wasn't their mom and caught them doing that, LOL. That would have been of their computer privileges except supervised for homework only, there would have been some mandatory community service where working for/with people of other races and economic status, zero going out on the weekends, no cell phones, etc. I would come down on any kid of mine who did that like a ton of bricks and it would last for a long long looooong time.
On the other hand however, death threats, threats of violence etc are absolutely wrong as well. Anyone doing that isn't exactly an upstanding citizen. Threatening to kill a child who, as Judge Judy would say, "isn't fully cooked", for being stupid and saying incredibly stupid things on a video is a bit over the top.
Neither the kids nor those making the threats can claim the moral high ground. Both are utterly without excuse for their behavior.

It kind of puts the lie to the "they're all dying off" meme. New ones are being born every day.

I really hate to say this BUT I hear those types of comments and slurs every single day here in the South. I thought words like that were BANNED and no one said things like that anymore. At least they never did in Seattle or on the West Coast.
But, since coming to the South a few months ago. Sadly, I hear it every single day. And, I really don't think they say it as a racist comment but more as what they call Black People in the South. And, frankly it turns my stomach every time I hear it. It is such a horrid thing to say.
- 1 vote
I guess I'm lucky then. I live in the South, have most of my life, and found people in Colorado to be far more racist (at least when I lived there, they were still clutching their purses to them every time a black man walked by). Then again, I tend to live in majority black neighborhoods. Maybe that's the difference. Anyway, I haven't heard a racial slur (that wasn't said between black people) in a good while. Get really sick of the "it's only the South" BS. It's not. It's everywhere, in pockets. Not saying we don't have them, but ours are just less subtle (which is good so then we know who they are right up front.)

Well there ya' go Slinger - lot of imports from other parts of the country. Not that they don't have their homegrown racist - but the natives are getting rare in that state

First of all, Chris rock already covered the subject matter. IF they were smart, they could have simply linked his skit, and started a dialogue about it. I promise, kids these days are dumb as shyt.. ALL of them, of all races. The new fad is to tape fights and post it on youtube. Thing is, friends of the ones fighting comment, and actually drop names. Dummies are doing the police work and providing evidence to boot.
Had a friend of mine say her son took her car while she was out of town. I said how did you know, she said, he busted the head light, and didn’t put the gas tank back on full like she had it and left Mcdonalds bags in the car. She hasn’t eaten McDonalds in YEARS………BLANK STARE…Rule #1 when you take mom’s car, don’t mess it up, put the gas back in it, and make sure you don’t leave your crap in it….LOL!

He can get away with it because he's inside the target group.
For example: I'm disabled and in a wheelchair. My other disabled friends in college and I would call each other "gimps". We would laugh it off because we were inside the group. If others who were not in wheelchairs or whatever came up to us out of the blue and called one of us that, it would NOT have gone over very well.
Of course these days it takes a hell of a lot more than that to set me off. But in my late teens and early twenties, it was all edgy angst all the time, LOL.
- 8 votes
I see your point. I doubt those teenage girls are remotely aware that "you must know your target audience." I think they were being typical teenagers who thought they were being edgy and "discovered" a huge idea that had not been thought before...at least by their peer group. This kind of sad stuff happens across the US. By the way have you seen "crutch dancing"? This is a video of a handicapable guy dancing on Canadian crutches. He has more skill and coordination then most people without physical limitations. He starts out slow but then he gets moving. http://wins.failblog.org/2012/02/22/epic-win-photos-crutch-dancing-win/
and this man...being on crutches did not prevent him from becoming a featured performer on Cirque du Soleil: http://wins.failblog.org/2012/02/22/epic-win-photos-crutch-dancing-win/
Ah, the South, ya think these girls just may have heard this racism at home?
Where they learned it is from may have been started in the home but maybe not. Maybe it came from watching too much reality shows or music videos. The fact is they learned it somewhere. The South is not an exclusive racist breeding ground. Some of the ugliest examples of "modern" racism is seen places like Boston and Chicago. It's raises its fugly head in many other northern and western cities and towns. And where did those people making death threats against these girls learn their evil ways? Which behavior is more henious? I think the death threats over stupid words spoken teenage girls is worse.
I must say I kind of resent your blanket statement about the people raised in the south. I am a GRITS (Girl raised in the South). Dad was not racist and would have dealt a harsh punishment to us kids if we even thought about not treating people of all races with respect and common courtesy. My mother on the other hand was from Montana. She was a closet racist but never displayed it when we were kids. However, as she got to be an old, bitter woman years after my Dad died...that's when it came out. I was appauled.
- 7 votes
Well if Chris Rock can say it, get paid to say it no less, and it's acceptable, and we all deny we live in a double standard country, then they said what they felt. Granted in a very offensive way. I'm going to assume there is some truth in what they said, about the differences in generalizing some individuals within their race, just like there are decent white folks, and then there are also white trash, crackers, Whiteys etc. By no means am I a racist, but neither am I by no means ever going to bypass truth in favor of political correctness. This whole story is nothing more than political banter to stir up the @!$%# pot again during a tight election cycle.

very ignorant to think racism is a "Southern" thing.........

Can an outsider of a culture, group, religion make disparaging remarks, use slurs against the group and not be called a bigot?
Yes.
But only if they have been adopted whole-heartedly by that group already. Eminem gets the liberty to use the N word and poke fun at the gold-digging ways of certain black women. Margaret Cho, Robin Williams and Kathy Griffen get the liberty to poke fun at certain aspects of gay subculture culture in their stand-up acts. Political opinion writers with close friends on both sides of the aisle get to equal opportunity bash without being called unfairly biased.
If these two girls can bring out two black friends (and I mean TRUE friends, not mere aquaintances) who can vouch for them, then I'll be more inclined not to think their views are inherently racist.
American Dreams, I think you've stumbled on our deficiencies as a society with this statement.
"Dad was not racist and would have dealt a harsh punishment to us kids if we even thought about not treating people of all races with respect and common courtesy".
Now as a society, because we no longer value, nor teach our kids the importance of respect, and courtesy for our fellow man, woman, or differing races and religions. We are now forced to label it racism, anti semitism, bigotry, discrimination. Why? To deflect the actual blame away from all of us as parents, teachers, and law makers, for dereliction of duty by nurturing it and demanding it of our children from the very early stages of development. We have forsaken the much simpler actions of respect and courtesy in favor of political correctness.

and there you have it. how can you tell these girls they cant say these things while blacks themselves in a number of outlets refer to each other as nigga's and bitches.
if you are going to say it, you shouldnt get mad about others saying it, and if you get mad at others saying it, you shouldnt say it. the US a mixing pot of hypocrasy.
and as far as the girls getting kicked out of school, i would say that the persons who are sending the death threats should then be kicked out of school as well. to me (and this is just my opinon) calling someone a derogatory name is not quite as bad as threatening a persons life.

Actually no it isn't. I have lived everywhere in this Country. The West Coast, the Pacific Northwest, the Bible Belt, Midwest, the East Coast etc, and I have never ever heard people talk like this EXCEPT in the deep South. It is horrible to me, and may be a deal killer-on whether I can stay in the South or not.........I HATE the HATE.

it happens. sometimes we all use generalities and apply totality to them. i catch myself doing it as well some times. havent spent a lot of time in the south myself ('cept south cali) but I can tell you that racism is alive and well in Los Angeles. I would say probably moreso by minorities than whites. but then I know more minorities than i do whites...... does that make whites the minority???
anyway, i appreciate your response without having to go to the name calling thing like some people feel they have to.

Had to laugh about your story of your friend's son. It reminded me of a young child with chocolate smeared all over their face. They are surprised when they get in trouble for eating the chocolate after they were told not to. "Wow Mom must have weird powers How did she know i ate the chocolate?"
Can anyone name a single teen who has their act together at age 15. Granted there are rare examples out there but as a general rule teens are hormonally unbalanced, socially challenged, akward, self-centered, half child-half adults with little to no common sense. And these girls are prime examples. Even though their comments are not acceptable by anyone but perhaps a small circle of peers, it does not excuse or justify ANY death threats directed towards them.
There's the majority of ANY race/religion who're ordinary, unremarkable and respectable, and then there are a few jerks. I'm not even going to say these gals are jerks, not just yet; let 'em grow up for a while, and see if they learn anything...

I consider it wrong when Chris Rock does it, and don't think it's funny at all. There- I've given you my firm opinion on it, without engaging in any "well, they said it too" folderol. What's your firm opinion on it? Do you consider it right, or wrong?
- 7 votes
I consider it wrong when Chris Rock does it, and don't think it's funny at all.
Lighten up. It's hilarious when CR does that routine. It's not racist if a black man is pointing it out. And my "firm opinion" still remains. It is fine for someone to insult there own race period. I can sit here and talk about the difference between white people and honkies bc I'm white. And Chris Rock can do the same bc he's black. When race is brought into ANY conversation with the intent of hurting or degraded the other person it's bad, but a comedy routine is just that, comedy.
- 2 votes
Lighten up. It's hilarious when CR does that routine. It's not racist if a black man is pointing it out.
No it's not, and yes, it is. Do you think that a black person can say anything about other black people, and not be racist? For instance, can a black person say that black people are inherently inferior to whites, and not be racist? Do you think they can say something like that, and not be right?
comedy routine is just that, comedy.
If it's "just comedy", then why is it being used to defend the very serious assertion that there are "black people", and "@!$%#s"?
By the way, you still haven't answered my question. I asked you if you think it's wrong- including when two white girls do it, and you responded by talking about it being alright if a black man did it. I don't agree, but I'll ask the question one more time, and paste your comment again, just so we're clear:
When Chris Rock does it it is funny when two white people girls do it is considered wrong.
Ok...do you consider it wrong for two white girls to do it?
Now, your response seems to suggest that you do consider wrong when two white girls do it, but looking at your initial statement again:
When Chris Rock does it it is funny when two white people girls do it is considered wrong.
That seems to be a complaint that a black person can say it, but a white person can't. Given that, it's kind of weird that your response was essentially "I believe a black person can say it, but white people can't, and that's the way it should be". One more time...
Do you think it was wrong for those two white girls to say that?
- 2 votes
Yes it's wrong if two white girls do it and last time I checked Chris Rock wasn't comparing white vs. black, he was comparing black people vs. n___ers. And yes it's funny (when Chris Rock does it). I also think I answered your question before
When race is brought into ANY conversation with the intent of hurting or degraded the other person it's bad,
It's like comparing apples and oranges. Want proof. Find a good black friend and ask them to tell you the difference between black people and n___ers. Chances are they'll share the same view as Chris Rock. You're trying to make this (the Chris Rock reference) into somerthing awful, when if you just took my advice and LIGHTENED UP and maybe I dunno, watched the routine, you would see what I am talking about.
Do you think that a black person can say anything about other black people
YEP.
That seems to be a complaint that a black person can say it, but a white person can't.
Not my complaint at all, just pointing out the fact that yes Chris Rock did THAT routine and yes it was funny.
PS- I didn't post this:
When Chris Rock does it it is funny when two white people girls do it is considered wrong.
So put down your "You're a racist bc I said so" placard and read who posts stuff before blasting the wrong person. Now back up on your soap box.
- 2 votes
Find a good black friend and ask them to tell you the difference between black people and n___ers.
Well, being black for what is getting to be a little while now, I have black friends, and that's not something that has ever come up. In other words, no other black person has never made the distinction between blacks and "@!$%#s" to me. No, to say the least, the chances are very slim that they will share Rock's view. He's an outlier. They're more likely to share the view that he's displaying some "Uncle Tomism", though.
So put down your "You're a racist bc I said so" placard and read who posts
Well:). I didn't say "you're racist because I said so", but that didn't stop you from putting that placard in my hands, I see:).
Now back up on your soap box.
Ok...here's the thing- anti-black whites formulated the "there are blacks, then there are @!$%#s" meme, and the definition of who the "@!$%#s" are is hardly restricted to people who are obviously the black equivalent of "white trash" (by the way, I object to that slur, as well). Think about the black whistleblower FBI agent who got a letter telling him that he "made himself into a @!$%#". Think about Michelle Obama, who earned a law degree from an Ivy League university, got married, and bore two children after she was married, only to be referred to as a "baby mama". Think about the President, who after all his achievements, has been portrayed as a pimp and some of every other degrading, stereotypical thing under the sun. Black people who buy into the meme enable racists who view virtually all of us as "@!$%#s".
Another saying that was originated by anti-black whites is "@!$%#s and white trash", and the people who use it mean "blacks and white trash".
- 3 votes
They're more likely to share the view that he's displaying some "Uncle Tomism", though.
Yeah not a racist bone in your body. But you'll call a popular black comic an Uncle Tom because you not only don't know how the joke goes but you lack the sense of humor to see what is funny about what Rock was saying.
Do you think that a black person can say anything about other black people
Apparently you do too.
Way to contradict yourself.
- 1 vote
Thanks for taking that bait. I hoped, but wasn't sure that you'd take it to the point of suggesting that I, a black man, am racist because I applied that term to...another black person.
No, way to contradict yourself. :)
Apparently, you don't find my use of the term funny, either. Who woulda thunk it?
Now tell us...why do you think it's racist for a black person to apply the term "Uncle Tom" to another black person, but one black person calling another "@!$%#" isn't racist?
- 1 vote
Chris Rock always says CRACKER, CRACKER, CRACKER in his shows also while doing the same routine these girls did about whites FYI. I like Carlin's view being that @!$%# is just a word. Words do not need permissions in this country. Its intentions do have consequences though. Its the black double standard in play here.

It's a sad truth that has been explained over and over again. Each ethic group has their trash. White people have white trash. I wouldn't include the word "Rednecks" to define the dredges of the white group. I've known plenty of "rednecks" that have big hearts and open minds. I've known black men that have adopted the term redneck to identify themselves.
Was it wrong for the girls to quote Chris Rock? I couldn't tell you. What I will say is that anyone who is proud to live as trash, proud to be ignorant, proud to be a menace, proud to do harm to others deserve what comes their way both physically and orally. After all, they are proud to identify themselves as such amount their peers. Also note, there are black people who agree with the girls.

Well, yes- there are black people, including Chris Rock, who have internalized some aspect or another of white supremacist rhetoric.

So in your opinion Chris Rock is a white supremacist?
This is getting ridiculous.
- 2 votes
No, my opinion is what I said. Some black people have internalized some aspect or another of white supremacist rhetoric...or thought...or opinion. It's nothing new.
You know, it's not as if Chris Rock originated that formulation. Anti-black racists have used it as an excuse to regard black people as "@!$%#s" for many, many years.

I have lived in Gainesville and it is a lovely college town - but as in all towns, you do have a segment of the population that is not educated, which has nothing to do with the amount of schooling you have achieved. These girls obviously come from that segment.
If I were these girls' mama, they would wish they had not done such a hateful thing... but, then my kid would never have done something like this in the first place.

Send Chris Rock this article maybe he can get it through his head that a word born out of negative can never be positive period. Yes I'm black. Ask Mr. Rock why is it that other groups in this nation does not run around calling each other racial slurs?

Ok, I am asking this in an attempt to understand something and not be a @!$%# head, LOL.
I have personally seen and heard one black person call another "nigga" and "my nigga" etc in various forms as greetings and so forth. I've heard it on more than a few occasions. The reason why it sticks in my mind is you could have pushed me over with a feather when I heard it and saw who was saying it to whom. I mean that word sends my brain into spasms of EW!!!! SO I was blown away by seeing it being exchanged between black people.
Have you ever heard it or heard -of- this and if so how do you explain it in light of saying:
other groups in this nation does not run around calling each other racial slurs

Have you ever seen the movies Grand Tortino? There is a seen were two White men greet each other in the barber shop with numerous racial slurs, but they are friends. The Asian kid is told to do the same thing and it didn't go over to well. This is a good example of why the internal use of racial slurs is not a good idea. Now I heard a group of women referring to themselves as whores and bitches and they were cool with that. What would happen if I addressed one or all with those slurs?????????????????

Out of curiosity can you define YOUR use of the term "white supremacist rhetoric" and how one internalize it.
white supremacist rhetoric:
"It is difficult, at this day, to realize the state of public opinion in relation to that unfortunate race which prevailed in the civilized and enlightened portions of the world at the time of the Declaration of Independence, and when the constitution was framed and adopted. But the public history of every European nation displays it in a manner too plain to be mistaken. They had for more than a century before been regarded as beings of an inferior race, and altogether unfit to associate with the white races, either in social or political relations; and so far inferior that they had no rights which the white man was bound to respect, and that the negro might justly and lawfully be reduced to slavery for his benefit."

I am so tired of this sh$%. There are plenty of blacks writing racist tirades - shouldn't they be punished also? Let's just be honest here and say that when whites make fun of blacks its racist, the other way and it's overlooked. My liberal colleagues smile nervously and laugh.
As for the Obama's, they are free from having their family be the target of jokes because they are black. As a Democrat, I still was appalled at the jokes about the Bush daughters. The Obama kids are free from this ridicule. Also, anyone who even disagrees or is direspectful with the president is a racist however look at the way Clinton and Bush, were treated in the press guring their presidencies. People like Al Sharpton (remember Tawanna Brawley???) and Whoopi Goldberg are quick to play the race card with Obama but are exempt when making race jokes about whites or being critical of non-black officials. If we are going to go down the path of calling out racism it must be both ways; KKK and Farrakahn. While both have the right to their freedom of expression it is clear that the KKK is to be despised while we passively overlook blacks who spew the same type of racism and violence toward whites.
Lastly, I love hearing how the president and his wife went to Ivy League schools. What we forget is that they went for free because of color. While I had the grades, and so did my children, the cost was out of our budget and we had to work to pay for college. It must be nice to have everything handed to you because of color. Let's not go back to segregation, slavery etc. When do the free handouts stop?
It's freedom of speech for everyone or no one and a crime is a crime. (At issue is where blacks who kill whites (at far greater numbers than the reverse) should also be tried as hate crime perpetrators or a crime be a crime). The inconsistencies go on and on so Ill stop here.

Is one group's self-commentary on negative aspects within their own culture (even when done with irreverence) different from an outsider making condemnations of a culture that is not their own?
Yes. I keep saying on Newsvine that in all discussions of race- CONTEXT is everything.
WHY is Chris Rock pointing out the attributes that makes a black person a "@!$%#" WHY?
I am sure it is not because he wants to demean all black people. He is using comedy to highlight things that need to be addressed by his own community. Just as a lesbian comic might poke fun at certain unflattering aspects of Sapphic culture that perhaps are a little ridiculous and need addressing.
So integral to our assessment of these two girls' commentary is; WHY did they do this. Were they well-meaning observers trying to uplift the black community by pointing out the unsavory aspects of the culture that need to be changed?
Something tells me no.

If you read the Gospels, Jesus was pretty hard on his own people too. Tough love towards your own people is not being racist against your own people.
On the other hand, Europeans using Jesus' stern words for his people to support their own anti-Semitism IS RACISM.
So once more, to be clear- Chris Rock or Bill Cosby or Micheal Eric Dyson having stern words for the black community stems from love.
Rush Limburgh using the words of Bill Cosby to support his already established racist viewpoint just to say, "See, even THEIR OWN PEOPLE say so," stems from racism.
Larry The Cable guy pointing out the foibles of Redneck culture is DIFFERENT from me, a black chic referencing Larry The Cable guy to paint a negative picture of all working class white people.
See the difference?

Lastly, I love hearing how the president and his wife went to Ivy League schools. What we forget is that they went for free because of color.
They went for free? Then why did they have student loans to pay? They received a few scholarhsips and the rest were parental/grandparental contribution and student loans.
While I had the grades, and so did my children, the cost was out of our budget and we had to work to pay for college.
Michelle Obama was Salutatorian of her senior graduating class. My guess would be she also had the grades. Mrs. Obama and her brother were both very smart and I believe they skipped at least one grade in elementary school.
It must be nice to have everything handed to you because of color. Let's not go back to segregation, slavery etc. When do the free handouts stop?
It's not the free handouts, but the myths and lies that must stop. All black people do not go to school for free: that right there is the biggest lie and misconception i have ever heard. All those minority scholarships are only available for poor minorities. If you make less than $40,000 per year for a family of 5 or 6 then you might qualify for one. The competition for other minority scholarships that are not need-based is so great that the chance of your child getting that “one of ten” scholarships is slim to none. My daughter's education costs $52,000 per year and our portion to pay is $31,000. My daughter received an academic grant because she had good grades and the rest comes out of OUR POCKET and in student loans and parent loans. Free, my azz.

Lois, there is no limit to the fantasies some of these people will conjure up in their minds to justify their resentments. The comment you're responding to reminds me of a Sixty Minutes segment I saw many, many years ago. It was about a white lawyer in the South whose specialty was finding black families who jointly owned pieces of land and trying to persuade one member to sell, thereby causing all of them to lose their land. The reporter asked him why he did it, and he said "Well, it's a balancing of rights". In other words, because black people had civil rights by that time, which was sometime in the mid to late Seventies, this guy set out to "balance" those rights by stealing black families' land.
That commenter has made himself believe the out-and-out lie that the Obamas went to college for free, just because they're black. That allows him to defend, and in an undercover way, condone the racism in that video. It's his way of "balancing rights".

@ Plants. You are absolutely right, and further, it just makes sense. Call it the act of "balancing rights." Thank you for bringing that up because I was honestly stunned by not only by the brashness and vehemence MichaelPA spewed, but also and even more disturbing the comments of the people who applauded him and then voted up his comment because they said he was telling it like it is. Really? Whose truth did he tell? Not mine and those of my countrymen. Whose truth, then? His "truth"? Probably not even his own truth. I know what it is and I’ve seen it before. It’s “ The Boogeyman syndrome.”
MichaelPA has allowed himself to get angry about myths and fantasies about the boogeyman. He had to work through school, but the Obamas got in only because they were black and then they didn’t even have to pay for school? Not one dime? DAMN! That’s messed up! I had to work my way through school also. But, wait.. I'm black! That cannot be; i must be dreaming. All those poor white children who are not getting into college, because of ALL those evil black children are taking up all their college slots. How can that be? There are 5 times as many whites than blacks because we are only, what 12 to 14% of the population? How in the world can all these black people take all these white people's slots in college? How is that even humanly possible when the entire 14% of black people do not even go to college? Now as it stands, every white kid who does not get into the college of his choice can actually blame it on the black boogeyman kid who stole their spot and not only that but the boogeyman goes for free and he's not even smart enough to be there. WOW. That's pretty damn pathetic. I would be angry too if I believed that horseshyt; I’d be mad at my own self for being that gullible. My mouth literally wide flew open on this statement below.
I second that. You said which took guts what most folks would agree with if they had any guts.
Guts. Hmmm. It actually takes more guts to admit your own shortcomings and not balance your own failures on the heads of others simply because it is easier to swallow.

"Guts"? Hell, it doesn't take any guts for someone to try to will him/herself into believing total fantasies to rationalize their resentment. It takes the ultimate in intellectual cowardice to do that, and I hesitate to even use the word "intellectual" in connection with it.

Ding, ding, ding!!!! Loud clapping, standing ovation. More applause! :)

Student loans are bank loans . State and Federal Student Financial aid is calculated by income not skin color. Private Scholarships are determined by the donors.
Mr.and Mrs. Robinson, Michele (Robinson) Obamas parents sacrificed the American dream of home ownership to finance their children's college education.
President Obama's MOM (Stanley Dunham)
Dunham studied at the Honolulu University of Hawaii Manoa campus, and the University of Hawaii Manoa's East–West Center, where she attained a Bachelor's in Anthropology/Mathematics. A Master's and PhD. in Anthropology
Who encouraged you to believe you can distort reality? Yes, you are sick and tired.

Had you and your children gone to and HBCU, you could have gotten a minority scholarship.
I am so tired of this sh$%. There are plenty of blacks writing racist tirades - shouldn't they be punished also? Let's just be honest here and say that when whites make fun of blacks its racist, the other way and it's overlooked. My liberal colleagues smile nervously and laugh.
Find it on Youtube and post it for us then.....

Really? Exactly how did that happen? Exactly who handed them their Ivy League educations for free?
The Obama kids are free from this ridicule.
If, when they become young adults, they engage in the behavior the Bush daughters did, they will be talked about the same way.
It's freedom of speech for everyone or no one and a crime is a crime.
It obviously is free speech for everyone. Those girls aren't in jail. As far as hate crimes go, they're not defined simply as "a person of one race committing a crime against a person of another race". You do know that, don't you?
so Ill stop here.
Yeah, you should. This is ridiculously low hanging fruit.

We need to step back and remember our lessons from childhood:
"Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me."
We need to stop limiting speech, no matter how it offends. We need to stop the sensationalism of such acts that stir emotional responses. We need to start recognizing exactly what constitutes violation of "rights" and punishing physical altercations, swiftly and severely. Those who are offended or insulted by words need to walk away and allow the blather to cannibalize itself, because a response, especially and escalating response, only give credence to those who spewing the vitriolic message.
The news media picks these stories up because the political machine runs it and division is what they want, so they highlight it. Stop eating everything they spoon feed you!
"Limiting speech"? That video is still up on YouTube.
We need to start recognizing exactly what constitutes violation of "rights"
Yes, we do. "We" need to stop acting as if criticism of speech is a violation of free speech rights.

We're not acting like the criticism is a violation of free speech rights. The point is, the media uses emotional issues to stir the pot, and it works like a charm. It doesn't matter what was said on the video, if it's words, it's words. Once it crosses a line into a physical confrontation, that's where we need to step in. End of story.
What "media"? Those girls uploaded that video to YouTube, and it went viral before "the media" reported on it.
Once it crosses a line into a physical confrontation, that's where we need to step in.
You're acting as if there girls have been jailed. They haven't, so no one has "stepped in" in the way you imply.

Wow!! Everything with race gets blown so out of proportion these days. Everyone is so sensitive but sympathetic if it's "your people" - then you can be as inappropriate as you want.
If everyone really wants equality then lets just leave these stories where they belong - in the trash! Stop publicizing this garbage and focus on the thousands of other issues we have to deal with. These two immature young girls will probably end up on "The Bad Girls Club" or some other reality show now and actually make a living off this stupid rant.

Yes, that's what we're seeing here- some whites who are sympathetic because those two girls are "their people".

Just like black people use the N-word among themselves but "Not no white cracka betta call me no Nigga"..It's hypocritical at best...I don't agree with racism at all. But the hypocracy needs to stop. hopefully.
Triple, are you saying it would be OK if a Black person called you a bunch of racial slurs? I'm pretty sure not. So a term that has been ingrain in this nation for over 400 years. A term were Black people have tried to lesson it's effect by using it on themselves. Still is a negative term that time is long over due to drop from our language.

In all true honesty I could care less what anyone calls me!! I guess I just don't care?? As long as they don't call me to late for lunch... :-) I'm much more thick skinned than most people in this country...Been that way all my life... And dropping the world won't change the culture..I think these kids are sick of the lazy, emotionally driven and elective incompetence levels among almost all races. They aren't talking about skin color so much as a wreckless attitude. I'm not real certain, and people like to twist words and take things out of context.
These young girls are saying what many white and black Americans have been saying for years. But they do not understand it's not a laughing matter. I don't even like when black comedians say things like this. It's like saying there is white people, and then there's "white trash", there is no place for it.
The "n" word(notice I lower case cause it does not deserve to be capitalized) is and will be a sore spot for American culture for generations. The thing that bothers me the most is the younger generation of blacks, mostly those wrapped up in the farce that is known as the "hip hop" culture, seem to celebrate it like a right of passage. That "jailhouse" mentality culture within the black community will continue to drag down naive youngsters for years to come, and that is very sad:(
Stand up people, and tell the world racism is just wrong! The "n" word represents nothing but racism, no matter whose mouth it comes out of.

I agree with you. We should let it go. But some of the things they mention are actually some ideals that those groups are comfortable with or dare I say, proud of. I'm not sure how to approach it but its kind of like if an animal, for instance, that walks and talks like a duck..then it's a duck. But don't call it a duck because it doesn't like that?!! It's really odd in some ways. We call people out on how some of them truely are, and they get upset but won't change? I dunno? It's a mess..
Put the blame where it belongs! Her parents. We all know kids mock what they hear & see,They aren't born to hate.

Nope..not parents on this one..It's society in general..many of us feel the same way about those situations but its taboo to speak of it. Hell even those that choose to live that way know it's ugly and lazy but still do it anyway..because they can.
