I think everyone prays. Be it a conscious communication with God, a chat with a higher power, a quiet meditation or a conversation in one's head about the important things in life it is a prayer of sorts. For people of faith the power of prayer is seen as a fundamental part of their faith structure. Prayer is important to many.
So, I was watching something on this on TV a few weeks ago and thought I would pose the question. This chap was talking about prayer and stated that he holds prayer vigils outside clinics that provide terminations and that this was the most important prayer he could do. Now other than the obvious points re infringement on a women’s right to go to that place in privacy I thought to myself hang on a minute, is that the really the most important prayer he could do? I mean there are so many things a person could pray about. Saving souls, feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, stopping wars, murder, rape, abortion, the death penalty, the evil in mens heart. On a more personal level, health, happiness, friends and family come to mind. This is of course a none-exhaustive list please feel free to add to it.
