Amid the hubbub of last week’s Supreme Court decision regarding the Affordable Care Act, a lesser known law, authored by the secretive American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC, was struck down by the Court. The law, Proposition 200, was adopted by the state of Arizona in 2004, and in 2008, Russell Pearce, the disgraced and oustedformer State Senate President, presented the bill to ALEC, which adopted the law as a piece of model legislation under their Public Safety and Elections Task Force. The law would require proof of citizenship before a person could vote
