So for once the sun was shining and Jj and I decided on a picnic. A drive through the beauty of the North Yorkshire moors and a stop for a bite to eat and a sup of wine. I was picturing the pictures I would take. A babbling brook, the sun reflected through the trees, the bloom of the heather on the moors. And then we happened by chance on a rural church close to home. A rural church that was founded in AD 654 and an ancient crypt from the Saxon times. Stepping down into an ancient time, in this ancient land. Truly amazing. The guts of 1300 years right there. We found a grave in the grave yard. Looks like the chap was born AD1000. That is over a thousand years ago! Jj had to clear the grave of leaves for us to get a picture. The church still holds regular services today.
