Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) just had a slip of the tongue that on closer examination might be a clue to the identity of Sen. Harry Reid’s (D-NV) secret Bain informant. But more about that later.
In an interview this week in Las Vegas, McCain was asked about Mitt Romney’s tax returns submitted as part of the vice presidential vetting process in 2008. It has been widely reported that Romney provided the McCain campaign with more than 20 years of tax returns (thought he won’t give American voters more than one year). When pushed on the issue of what is in those tax returns, McCain slipped and claimed, “Mitt Romney absolutely did not pay taxes.” The former maverick quickly corrected his statement to say that Mitt “did pay taxes.”
