U.S. Sen. John McCain and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will forever share the distinction of being the two Republican nominees who lost to President Barack Obama.
But McCain, R-Ariz., may be able to brag that he received more total votes when he topped the GOP ticket in 2008 than Romney did on Tuesday.
Votes are still being counted in this year's election, but as of Saturday, Obama was leading Romney 61.7 million votes to 58.5 million votes.
